On The Issues
Growth
In the time I have lived here, the size of the city has doubled. With growth comes the challenge to maintain the small town feel of Battle Ground. Growth is inevitable, and planning for growth is required by the Growth Management Act. However, the way we grow is ours to determine. I will work to ensure that Battle Ground maintains existing infrastructure and holds developers to high standards for new development with designs that complement our existing construction and strike a balance between buildings, parks, and green spaces.
Spending
I pledge to be a fiscally conservative consensus builder. The city’s money is OUR money, and I pledge to treat the city’s budget with the same care as I do my own.
Housing
We need to proactively develop a plan to compassionately deal with the homeless issue. We do not want the problems seen in Portland, Vancouver, and Longview to come to Battle Ground. We need to help those who want help, but we cannot allow those that don’t want help to take over our parks and sidewalks.
